Fix the fields marked above to see your QR code.
- Warning This is a placeholder domain. Codes that point to it will not work, so replace it with yours before you print.
- Note Prefix 952 is reserved for demonstrations. Use it to try the tool, never on a real product.

Corrected link
Your code needs a page to open
A QR code only helps when the link leads somewhere. Passmith's free plan publishes the product passport page behind it: 25 passports a month, in several languages.
Create a free accountWhat this generator does
It builds a GS1 Digital Link from what you enter: your domain, your GTIN, and optionally a batch or lot, a serial number and an expiry date. It then draws that link as a QR code you can download as SVG for print or PNG for screens.
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Passmith or anyone else. There is no account, no limit on the number of codes, and you may use the codes on products you sell.
How to read the result
The link starts with your domain, the address that will answer when someone scans the code. Then comes /01/ and the GTIN, always with 14 digits: the standard requires shorter GTINs to be padded with leading zeros, which does not change the number. A batch or lot follows as /10/ and a serial number as /21/, always in that order. An expiry date goes after a question mark as ?17= followed by the date as YYMMDD.
Characters other than letters, digits, hyphen, dot and underscore are percent-encoded, so a slash in a batch number becomes %2F. The table under the code shows each part with its meaning, and the checker further down explains the same for any link you paste.
What is free and what is not
The GS1 Digital Link syntax is a public standard, and this tool is free. The GTIN is not: it is licensed to your company through your national GS1 organisation, usually for a yearly fee. A correct check digit only shows that the number is well formed, not that it is licensed to you. The generator never invents or suggests numbers.
A QR code needs a page to open
The link works only if your domain answers it. Something at that address, called a resolver, has to send each scan to the right place: a product page, a passport, an instruction leaflet. A code printed before the domain is set up leads nowhere.
GS1 recommends a domain you own, because the codes then stay yours if you change provider. Read more in our guide to GS1 Digital Link. If you need the page itself, Passmith's free plan publishes 25 product passports a month.
Before you print
Keep a clear margin, the quiet zone, of four modules on every side; the SVG and PNG files include it. For retail packaging GS1 sets the module size at 0.396 mm minimum and 0.495 mm as the target, and at 0.743 mm minimum if the item is also scanned in warehouses. The tool shows what that means in millimetres for your link, and the SVG is drawn at 0.495 mm per module. A short domain gives a smaller code, and so does leaving out data you do not need on the pack.
Print black on white or another high-contrast pair, and do not put a logo inside the code or round its modules: GS1 treats both as damage. Where the code is the only barcode for the product, print (01) and the 14-digit GTIN as text next to it. Test-print on the real packaging, scan with several phones, and have a sample checked with a barcode verifier. This tool does not grade print quality.
What this tool does not do
It does not host pages or run a resolver, and it does not check who owns a GTIN. A QR code is not a Digital Product Passport on its own and does not make a product compliant; the passport is the record the code leads to. This version handles GTIN links (AI 01) only, not SSCC, GLN or other keys.
